Ninety Nine

We are the 99%

by Joshua on October 25, 2011

An original poem by Nora Garriga.

There’s a low rumbling, a slow but steady grumbling, here comes the marching of the other 99.

Too long in silence, promises broken are countless; here comes the voices of the other 99.

Houses lying vacant, others struggle just to pay the rent, overwhelming crowds in the welfare line.

Our roots are engrained here, no other country can compare, the living here could be so divine.

But we are squashed down, held back and forced face down, into the tides of poverty while few are allowed to excel.

And even when we occupy, where the richest go to sew their lies, we are beaten, sprayed and locked away, so that the truth we will not tell.

But heed this warning to the one that lay in comfort, our time has come and yours is short, you cannot hold back the power of the other 99!
